Sand Control & Management in Oil & Gas Production

Course Description:

Unconsolidated reservoirs are prone to increased sand production, and ultimately a loss of hydrocarbon production. This problem calls for an understanding of the reservoir zone’s flow properties and geo-mechanics – allowing for controlled formation damage and improved sand production control.

This intensive training program aims to address the causes of sand production and the various applicable sand control techniques, sand production prediction and mitigation within the well.

As produced sand cannot be avoided, the second part of this course will address the management of produced sand, discussing subjects such as prediction and equipment selection.

At the end of this program, participants should understand factors that cause and affect sand production, and understand necessary prerequisites for efficient sand production management within and outside the wellbore.

Course Content:

 PART 1

  • Formation Damage
  • Effect of Geomechanics on well performance and sand production
  • Oil & Gas Production Process Overview
